The faculty members are engaged in collecting funds from different sources to continue their research work. CASR, BUET provides a certain amount fund for conducting the research work of postgraduate students. In addition to the postgraduate programs, the faculty members of Department of Chemistry search funds from home and abroad organization to establish their laboratories. They maintain a good working relationship with industry and research support organization. For academic funds, in Bangladesh, they usually apply to Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science Technology, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Higher Education Quality Enhancement Projects etc. Outside of the country they apply to the organization who provides research funds; the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Italy a program of UNESCO, Commonwealth Secretariat and World Bank etc. Beside the academic fund the department also provides analytical facilities to different companies to gather industrial funds.
